Welcome from the Headteacher

On behalf of all the children, staff and governors I’d like to welcome you to our website. I hope that you will find it informative, interesting and that it gives you a deeper insight into what makes our school so special.

At Smarden we believe that all children thrive in an environment in which they are happy, challenged and secure: secure in the knowledge they are safe and cared for; challenged to achieve their best; and happy in the knowledge they are each appreciated for their individuality and their achievements.

We have high expectations of all our children in every aspect of school life. We endeavour to enable them each to achieve their potential through high standards of behaviour and outstanding learning experiences. We aim to enable them to develop self-confidence and independence, recognising that each and everyone has a part to play as a responsible member of our learning community.

The environment we provide for this is stimulating and exciting with recognition that education takes place both inside and outside the classroom.

Within our community, we welcome the parents and carers of our pupils, acknowledging the vital role they play in the education of their children. An active partnership and effective collaboration between home and school ensures our children are provided with a start to their life that they deserve as unique individuals.

Choosing the right primary school for your child can be one of the hardest decisions that we as parents have to make. At Smarden, we strive to do the best we can for our children in the way that is best for them. Our school is all about our children and as a result of this we invest time in making sure that the professionals who work with them maintain the highest standards.

At the heart of everything we do are our ARK values; Ambition, Respect, Kindness. These are promoted in all aspects of school life and, we believe, are important values for our children to take with them into the future.

In short, Smarden is a school, where all children from all backgrounds and abilities can be safe, successful and happy. Why not come and find out for yourself?

In January 2011, Smarden joined The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT) with the simple aim of safeguarding the future of our school and to improve the educational standards and opportunities we can offer our children. TKAT is a non-profit making organisation. Academies are state-funded independent schools that can benefit from greater freedom and flexibility in order to raise standards within the school and the local community. TKAT shares the school’s values of high attainment and real opportunities for staff and students alike.
