Here at Smarden Nursery School we will help your child play and learn at their own rate. We follow the statutory EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum and will guide them through various stages of learning and development. We provide an open, inviting and stimulating play environment, where children feel at ease to explore and experiment.
Our children are encouraged to work things out independently and face challenges head on. In our setting it is ok to take a risk and make mistakes which enables children to evaluate, learn and discover in a safe and secure environment.
The EYFS areas covered are as follows:
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Communication and language
- Physical development
- Understanding the world
- Expressive arts and design
We use ‘Tapestry’ to log activities and record observations and use this to assess where your child sits in relation to their age range for Development Matters, which leads on the the Early Learning Goals in Reception.
Alongside the EYFS curriculum we also implement and encourage the fundamental British values of democracy, individual liberty, rule of law, mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs.
This term our topic will be Festivals!
