YR R/1 - Butterflies

Welcome to Butterflies Class 2025-2026!

We are a mixed Reception and Year 1 class with fifteen pupils per year group. Our teachers are Mrs Ward, Miss Almond and Mrs Rumsey. Mrs Ward teaches on Mondays, Tuesday and Wednesdays and Miss Almond teaches on Thursdays and Fridays. Mrs Rumsey teaches everyday. We have three classroom assistants - Miss Thomas, who works every morning, and all day on Thursday and Friday. Mrs King works in Butterflies on Monday and Tuesday afternoons and Miss Allen who works Wednesday afternoons. 

We have two learning spaces - Cocoon Room and Meadow Room as well as a shared outdoor area. We also have a small quite room called 'The Snug'. 

We love reading, being outside and learning through play. Our learning environment is an inspiring place to learn.

Term 2

Our Literacy text for this term will be...The Tiger Who Came to Tea. We will also be reading The Lion Inside, Supertato, Can't you sleep little bear? One Snowy Night, One Winter's Day and Kippers Christmas Eve.

Our PE day will be Wednesdays.  

Term 1

Our Literacy text for this term will be...The Three Little Pigs.  

We will also be reading Dogger, Elmer, Not Now Bernard, Owl Babies, There's a bear on my chair, and Winnie the Witch during our Story Time sessions. 

Our PE day will be Wednesday and our Forest School day will be Fridays.
